Non-volatile memory express (NVMe) is a storage access and transport protocol for flash and solid-state drives (SSD). By its design, NVM Express allows hardware and software to fully exploit the levels of parallelism possible in modern SSDs. As a result, it reduces input/output overhead and brings performance improvements such as multiple long command queues, and reduced latency.
